Neck Pain in Henderson Nevada

woman_neck_painNeck pain occurs when we strain our neck muscles for extended periods (hunched over a computer, steering wheel or performing detailed work), suffer whiplash in a rear-end car accident or experience nerve compression pain caused by vertebral bone spurs or herniated discs. Chronic diseases such as osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis can also stiffen your neck and make it difficult to turn your head without feeling pain. Most people address their neck pain by taking NSAIDS or seeing their family physician, who typically prescribes pain medications or muscle relaxers. However, this superficial approach to neck pain doesn't resolve the real issue behind neck pain--spinal misalignment or vertebral subluxation.

Vertebral subluxation occurs when vertebrae move out of their normal positions and compress spinal nerves. This pressure causes extreme nerve irritation and significantly reduces functioning of your central nervous system.

Chiropractic Treatment for Neck Pain in Henderson Nevada

Flexion-Distraction Technique

This effective technique involves Dr. Day using gentle, repetitive thrusts with his hands to remove pressure on cervical (neck) and spinal nerves caused by misalignment of the spine. As vertebrae are moved back into their normal positions, nerve compression is relieved and pain disappears. In fact, most neck pain cases treated by Dr. Day are caused by compression of spinal nerves extending from the spine into the neck, shoulders, arms and head.

Trigger Point Therapy

When neck pain is the result of strained muscles or simple tension, Dr. Day may use trigger point therapy, a type of massage therapy that applies cycles of pressure and release directly on "active" trigger points. Trigger points are specific areas of the body that produce pain in other areas when pressure is applied to that spot. Also called "muscle knots", trigger points are frequently associated with fibromyalgia or myofascial pain.

Ultrasound Wave Therapy

Ultrasound uses therapeutic sound waves to penetrate deep into injured tissues to initiate healing by increasing blood flow to the area, reducing inflammation and stimulating tissue cell activity. By vibrating deep tissue molecules with sound waves, Dr. Day is able to warm sore neck muscles, initiate growth of new cells and encourage soft tissue healing.

Neck Strengthening Exercises

Dr. Day may show you how to perform neck strengthening exercises you can do at home while in between chiropractic treatments. For example, neck stretches can improve elasticity of neck muscles and increase range of motion by exercising cervical neck joints and providing muscles with sufficient blood flow. Neck strengthening exercises not only help reduce neck pain but can also improve posture and maintain neck muscle health. While neck stretches should be performed daily, neck strengthening exercises are done every other day so that muscles have a chance to repair and heal themselves naturally.

Chiropractic treatments offer noninvasive methods for eliminating neck and back pain while precluding reliance on prescription medications that simply relieve pain temporarily. Stop suffering from chronic neck pain by calling our office in Henderson at 702-614-6777 to schedule a consultation appointment with Dr. Day, who will assess your symptoms and recommend a treatment plan tailored to fit your needs.

"I have had back problems and had 2 surgeries and wanting a 3rd. Dr. Day provided a multidisciplinary plan that included chiropractic therapies and pain management. Pain management provided some immediate relief but I had residual pain in my right leg. Steroid injections failed. Dr Day recommended decompression table therapy and from the 1st session my leg pain was relieved. I continue with the decompression table therapy to ensure pain relief and to keep surgery at bay. Thank you Dr. Day!"
